Vincent Placet - UFC

After graduating with a Master of Engineering in the fields of wood science & engineering from the “Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Technologies et Industries du Bois”, Epinal, France in 2003, Dr. Ing. Vincent Placet obtained a PhD in wood science from the University Henri Poincaré, Nancy, France in 2006. The same year, he became Research Engineer at the Department of Applied Mechanics of the FEMTO-ST Institute, Besançon, France. In 2013, he obtained his habilitation to supervise research or “Habilitation à Diriger des Recherches” from the University of Franche-Comté, in the field of Composite Materials.

Since 2014, he is the head of the T2DC team (Damage Tolerance and Durability of (Bio) Composites) within the Department of Applied Mechanics of the FEMTO-ST Institute.

His main research interests are thermo-hygro-mechanical behaviour of plant fibres, plant fibre composites and wooden materials, durability, fatigue tolerance and health monitoring of composite materials and structures.

Vincent Placet co-authored 65 papers in international peer-review journals and over 80 papers in international and national conferences proceedings. In 2015, he was awarded “Daniel Valentin Price” by AMAC, the French association for composite materials.
